The Empowerment Center’s Mental Health Community Health Worker (CHW) Program is a 12-week virtual workforce development initiative designed to prepare youth and young adults (ages 18–24) for careers in mental health, behavioral health, and community-based support services. Rooted in lived experience and culturally responsive practices, the CHW Program bridges the gap between wellness and wellbeing, and trains underserved communities to fill the urgent workforce gaps in California’s mental health system.
